The hip and bust are almost of equal size with a narrow waist. Body fat distribution tends to be around both the upper body and lower body. This body type enlarges the arms, chest, hips, and rear before other parts, such as the waist and upper abdomen.

Hourglass figure is known to be "The" most appealing shape by male and female

Not only because of it's beautiful shape but, it's also considered as a strongest athletic and most muscular figure because of it's natural balance shape. 

A study of the shapes of over 6,000 women, carried out by researchers at the North Carolina State University circa 2005, found that 46% were banana (rectangular), just over 20% pear, just under 14% apple, and 8% hourglass.


The biggest challenge with an Hourglass shape is to find clothes that fits properly. Since the Hourglass figure is in the minority number, the manufactures prefer to cut their clothes based on Rectangular and Pear shape which is the majority, so we just have to find a way to fit in.


So the dresses that fit well on the bust does not fit well on the hip area, the pants that fit well on the hips does not fit well on the waist, got it? So that's way many Hourglass woman don't know how to enjoy their beautiful shape. Some woman go way over board trying to show-off their shape. Others get frustrated with the complications of ill-fitting clothes, or are embarrassed to show their figure because they think it's too seductive, so they decide to go with baggy shapeless Styles!

In order for my clothes to fit me properly and Elegant  I alter them, about 90% of my clothes are altered around the waist line, and the only dress pants that fits me properly without alterations is the Ann Taylor Curvy and stretchy straight jeans and curvy.


If you can't find your perfect fit, find the one that fits you right on the bust and hips, and alter the waist line. And always go for knee length or 2 to 3" under your Knee, it elongates your image and gives you a beautiful Elegant appearance. Don't forget to wear a high heel with those fitted dresses and knee high pencil skirts. It doesn't have to be those 3,4,5" heels, what ever you're comfortable with is just fine.

              a)-when choosing a Swimsuit decide what you'll be doing at the beach
b)- if you're just gonna relax and tan go for a beautiful bikini
                   c)-if you're gonna be active swimming and plain around go for a beautiful one-piece so you can look beautiful as well as comfortable
                   d)-try it on and make sure it fits you properly, try one or two sizes smaller
     e)-those extra baggy fabrics on the rear-end is not attractive at all
                    b)- too much spillage on the sides and too much cleavage are neither elegant nor attractive

What to Avoid:
With an hourglass shape there not much to avoid, basically anything looks great on you
as long as you don't over or under do your Style.There's no need to overdo anything, because your figure is your beauty. You have a broad shoulders, enough bust line, hips and thigh! What else do you need?


Just Avoid these few things because they'll rob you of your beauty:
a)-round or high-neckline
b)-avoid dresses that over-enphasises bust or hips
c)-clothes that hides your figure such as tent or sack dresses
